Digital stories provide a simple way of sharing stories, personal histories and recollections online.

They are usually between one and three minutes in length.  The simplest form consists of an audio commentary against a background of images, and some also include music and video.

Digital storytelling can help to make your project  come to life.  Have a look at the My Yorkshire website for some examples of stories from museums and community groups from the tiger resident in Holmfirth to forged photos from Bradford and naughty postcards in Kirklees!

The training we offer is two days long (preferrably one day one week and then the second day in the following week to allow time in between). During day 1, we cover:

  • What is a digital story
  • Top tips for digital storytelling
  • How to write your script or interview techniques
  • Using recording equipment
  • Editing your audio
  • Image research for your story

During day 2, we cover:

  • Storyboarding
  • Adding images to your story
  • Putting it all together
  • Converting your story for the web and publishing it!

By the end of the two days, every delegate will have created their own digital story and feel confident about creating more stories.

What previous delegates say:

'Demanding, enjoyable, helpful, interesting'

'Very interesting and enlightening, gives a good multimedia platform to present local history and reach a wide audience on the internet.'

'Very useful, interesting course. It provides a good introduction to digital storytelling'.

Prices start from £180 per delegate for the two-day package.
